Tekkoshocon - Friday

I went to the con at lunch time to make sure my stacks of Confluence fliers at the info tables were fully stocked and made a quick run through the dealer's room, buying a few DVDs. Then, I came back after work and bought some more DVDs. I called home to ask someone to look on my shelf to see if I had "War in Space" or "Message from Space". I was pretty sure I had one of them but couldn't remember which. It turned out that I didn't have either but was instead remembering "Warning from Space".

Well, now I have them all so there won't be any further confusion.

I ran into someone with a mighty nice Rocketeer-type jetpack. We talked for a while, all the time with him thinking he had met me before and me mentioning the cons I had been to. It wasn't until he mentioned that he was also with the local Stormtroopers that I figured that he must have met me at Steel City Con.

One of the dealers had some goggle inserts that I wanted to pick up but it turned out that the one I liked on the display panel was not quite the same as those in the box. He recognized my discriminating taste in steampunk accessories to be higher than the typical con-goer who will drop $20 for a $6 pair of welding goggles and call it steampunk and tried to give me a flier for the World Steam Expo but I told him that I already had reservation and didn't need a flyer. Then, he tried to draw my attention to his other wares, specifically the compilations of his comic Peter is the Wolf. I told him I already read it every week online.

I watched a few videos but walked out mid-way through "Miyamoto Musashi" (1961) because the subtitles got 2 or 3 steps out of sync with the dialogue, rendering it pretty much unwatchable.

I came home relatively early so that I could go to bed earlier than I have been for much of the week because Saturday is going to be a long day.
