I  won the costume contest, but not for lack of trying.

Dressed in my "steampunk" costume and wandering the dealer's room, I was cornered by the costume contest judges who insisted that I participate. I did my best to decline the honor, even pointing out that Rule Number 5 should have disqualified me because I had been wearing said costume all day and, in fact, also the day before. As judges, however, they ruled the restriction invalid.

There was apparently no escape.

Why, you may ask, would I be so highly resistant. You may note believe this bu I am somewhat modest. Counter to the conventional wisdom, I know, but in spite of my commanding stage presence and seemingly significant ability to be entertaining upon the stage, I do not actually like doing such things. And while the costume overall is attractive, I feel I can only take credit for a small portion of it's creativity. Somehow, I do not feel that shopping online to complete a costume qualifies me over someone else who had built their costume from scratch. Indeed, I think the Naval Commodore's costume was much more worthy of victory.

And yet, I won in spite of my efforts.

From the dealer's room of Millennicon I purchased two books. "Barnum!: In Secret Service to the USA" is a graphic novel that casts P.T. Barnum as a secret agent. I have no idea if it's any good asin I purchased it solely because it includes Nicola Tesla. I also picked up "Hollow Earth" which is less focused on the actual history of the theory that the Earth is hollow and more on the science fiction writing that used the theory.
