Finally, the proprietress lifted it up to look at the bottom because Euphorbia said that she had written "3 cups" on the bottom of her teapot in permanent marker to keep track of its volume. Against all odds, there was the mark that proved that this was, in fact, the teapot she had given away those years before. It had apparently been purchased from the Goodwill and experienced an unknown series of adventures before being put up on Free Cycle, to finally be claimed by the Purple Rose Tea Room to be eventually set before its previous owner.
An interesting start for the start of an afternoon of Victorian spiritualism.
